Croílíne offer two types of training in CPR:
1) Family and Friends CPR course
Would you know what to do if someone collapses suddenly and is not responsive?
Did you know that most people who have a sudden cardiac arrest die before reaching hospital?
Do you know what an AED/ defibrillator is?
Helping to save a life is easier than you think.
Statistics show that if more people knew CPR, more lives would be saved. Immediate CPR can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival. Using an AED (defibrillator) increases the chance of survival even more.
A Family and Friends CPR course is for anyone who wants to learn basic lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, relief of choking and AED (defibrillator) awareness.
Adult Hands-Only CPR
Adult choking relief
General AED awareness
The course is very easy only takes about 1 hour and is being provided by Croílíne (the Cois Fharraige Cardiac First Responders Group) free of charge.
2) Cúrsaí Céad Fhreagróirí Cairdiacha/Cardiac First Responders Courses
This course teaches you the basic techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and the relief of choking for adults, children and infants.
An AED is a computerised defibrillator which analyses the heart rhythm of a person in cardiac arrest and uses voice prompts to advise you if a shock is required. The AED is an important link in the chain of survival and this course teaches how to use them effectively. The course will provide you with ample opportunity to practice these skills.
In addition to this, the cardiac first responders course includes a module on the administration of aspirin, recognition of stroke and heart attack, critical incident stress awareness and debrief, cardiac first responder report and legal indemnity issues.
On completion of the course you will receive an Irish Heart Foundation/Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council certificate.
Details of how the Cardiac First Responders scheme works will also be explained.
PRACTICE SESSIONS FOR CFRs
During these practice sessions we will focus on, how to respond to a call out from the National Ambulance Service (NAS), adult CPR and use of the Defibrillator (AED).
Don't worry if you think you have forgotten everything you did at the course - that is why we have practices!!! The practices are about refreshing your memory and improving your CPR skills.
If you have not already completed Garda Clearance, you can bring along proof of identity and address and we will complete the form at the practice session. We can also discuss other requirements that may be coming in the future and dates for renewing your certificate.
